Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I know if a product is organic?

A. A label helps you to identify whether the product is organic or not. Usually, an internationally recognized body certifies the companies products. An organic seal assures consumers of the quality and integrity of organic products. Organic-certified operations must have an organic system plan and records that verify compliance with that plan.

Q. Why does organic cost more?

A.  Organic food does seem more expensive on the grocery counters compared to conventional food. Consumers may fail to see, but evidence suggests that conventional food is more expensive considering the impact on the environment and also on our health. Paying less for conventional food only accounts to bearing costs of impact on the environment and health through environment tax and hospital bills. Organic food offers solutions and benefits that stay long term, eventually helping home economies save much more.

While the consumer is still looking at organic food as a way to rob their hard earned money, what they are failing to see is that the food they are eating is robbing their health which is far more valuable than anything. Today, organic brands such as ‘Organic Soul’ are coming up with ways to save the world from the dangerous effects of harmful chemicals and pesticides by simply ensuring that the organic produce you get remains truly “Organic”.

Most economists have confirmed that the more people buy organic food, the lower its prices will fall! With increasing awareness amongst consumers, demand for organic food has already skyrocketed in the past few years. This increase in demand has led to an increase in the number of certified organic farmers willing to fulfill the high demand, resulting in higher production of organic food and lowering its costs.

Q. Does organic food taste better?

even though there are no formal studies for us to look at, there is some pretty strong anecdotal evidence favoring the flavor of organic foods. Many food experts and chefs actually do believe that organic foods tend to taste better. The food experts give credit to the soil care practiced by organic farmers. Strong nourishment of the soil leads to well-nourished plants, which in turns yields food with a high nutritional content and optimal flavor. It does indeed make sense. The National Restaurant Association conducted a survey and their findings support the idea that organic foods taste better. While it may be challenging to find hard data supporting the claims that organic foods rate higher in both nutrition and flavor compared to their conventional counterparts, there is still strong evidence to support the idea that the healthiest and most flavorful food choices are those that are raised using organic farming methods.

Q. Difference between organic and conventional grown foods?

A. High nitrogen application to plant foods can increase crude protein concentration but decrease the nutritional value of that protein. Conventional fertilizing practices could possibly result in higher crude protein content but poorer quality protein than organic practices.

There is considerable evidence from controlled experiments that some organic fertilizers result in lower nitrate concentrations in plants compared to conventional fertilization.

The ultimate test of the nutritional value of food is its ability to support health, growth, and reproduction over successive generations of animals or humans. Evidence for increased disease resistance, productivity, or fertility of animals feeding on organically grown fodder is largely anecdotal.

Q. Why Buy ORGANIC SOUL products?

A. Organic Soul came into existence after working with various farmers group for over two years. Two years of introducing them to organic agriculture through workshops held under the guidance of Kheti Virast Mission ( a Punjab based NGO working towards the propagation of  organic farming and rural empowerment under Shri Umendra Dutt Ji), helping them register their lands and dedicate if not all of their land then at least a part to traditional and organic farming practices. We at Organic Soul are striving to bring their products in the market at competitive prices thus encouraging more and more farmers to convert from commercial to organic farming.

ORGANIC SOUL is promoted by VIGAR ENTERPRISES LIMITED which is an integrated company headquartered in the Indian Capital city of Delhi, is primarily focused on organic and natural foods. It is involved in field production of crops, processing, product development and marketing of organic products. Organic Soul has been founded with a vision of providing Pure, Healthy, Wholesome foods to Consumers and creating Sustainable Livelihood for farmers.

The products are “certified organic”. The products confine to the strictest organic practices adopted worldwide.

It has a product range offering more than 50 products, ranging from cereals, grains, flours, Tea & tisanes, spices and super foods etc.

Q What are the benefits of Organic Food?

A. There is no doubt that eating organic food cuts the chemical and toxic load that you take into your body, as it comes to you without chemicals, growth hormones, additives, colourings and preservatives. Organic food is also usually fresher because, being Chemical-free and preservative-free, it is processed in smaller lots and has to be sent to the shops faster than conventional non-organic food.

Scientists now know what we eaters have known all along: organic food often tastes better. Plus, new research verifies that some organic produce is often lower in nitrates and higher in antioxidants than conventional food.

Organic food is associated with better health as it is rich in essential vitamins, micronutrients, and minerals. On an average, it has been found, that organic produce is rich in iron by 21.1%, vitamin C by 27%, magnesium by 29.3%, phosphorus by 13.6%, as well as important antioxidants and enzymes. On the other hand, the health benefits of conventional produce is destroyed by chemical fertilizers and pesticides used during inorganic practices of agriculture.

Numerous reports claim that harmful pesticides can affect the nervous system adversely, decrease fertility as well as increase the risk of cancer, while a U.S. study claims that low-level exposure to pesticides may result in better neurologic and behavioral health. Consuming organic food can drastically reduce exposure to toxic chemicals, 90% of which are not even tested for long term health effects before being approved for usage during conventional farming. Besides harmful fertilizers and pesticides, processed foods also expose us to genetically engineered (GE) food as well as genetically modified organisms (GMO), which survive glyphosate spraying and lead to super weeds and super bugs due to excessive chemical dousing. The World Health Organization’s cancer research scientists have recently classified glyphosate as a probable carcinogen for humans. The only way to avoid it is to GO ORGANIC!

Organic farming can be viewed as a practice of regenerative agriculture which helps in increasing the fertility of soil and creating more nutritious food. At the same time it reduces carbon footprint by absorbing carbon dioxide from the air and helps in reversing rapid climate changes, thus protecting future generations.

Q What are the environmental benefits of Organic agriculture?

A. 1. Organic Farming Builds Healthy Soil

To grow healthy food, you must start with healthy soil. If you treat soil with harmful pesticides and chemicals, you may end up with soil that cannot thrive on its own. Natural cultivation practices are far better than chemical soil management.

A large nine-year study by USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS), shows that organic farming builds up organic soil matter better than conventional no-till farming. According to Dr. Elaine Ingham, just one teaspoon of compost-rich organic soil may host as many as 600 million to 1 billion helpful bacteria from 15,000 species. Ingham notes that on the flip side, one teaspoon of soil treated with chemicals may carry as few as 100 helpful bacteria.

2. Organic Farming Helps Combat Erosion

Not only does organic farming build healthy soil, but it helps combat serious soil and land issues, such as erosion. A major study comparing adjoining organic and chemically treated wheat fields showed that the organic field featured eight more inches of topsoil than the chemically treated field and also had only one-third the erosion loss.

If you aren't concerned about erosion; you should be. Erosion issues are extremely serious, affecting the land, food supply, and humans. However, organic farming practices do help discourage erosion from occurring 404.

3. Organic Farming Fights the Effects of Global Warming

Rodale Institute Farming Systems Trial is America’s longest running, side-by-side comparison of conventional and organic agriculture. The trial, running since 1981, has shown that a healthy organic agriculture system can actually reduce carbon dioxide and help slow climate change.

4. Organic Farming Supports Water Conservation and Water Health

Dwindling water supplies and poor water health are very real threats. When our water supply is at risk, people and the planet end up suffering.

Rivers notes that a major water pollution threat to rivers is runoff from non-organic farms, such as harmful pesticides, toxic fertilizers, and animal waste. Organic farming helps keep our water supplies clean by stopping that polluted runoff.

Organic farming also helps conserve water. Organic farmers, in general, tend to spend time amending soil correctly and using mulch - both of which help conserve water.
