About Organic Soul
We are a young organization led by passionate people with zeal to make Healthy, Chemical Free, Organic & Nutrient Rich Food & Products available to all and to inspire people to eat the best and live longer.
I have always been conscious consumer and a mother who is always looking for healthy & environment-friendly products. While there are many companies who offer healthy & organic products but still there is a wide gap in the market and lack of transparency.
At the backend supply side, we see farming communities especially women are not getting their dues in form of appreciation of their hard work & incentives for adopting sustainable organic practices. We thought of marrying both roles by offering quality, healthy, nutrient-rich & certified organic products as per the need of consumers which are produced and the deserved value addition at source going to the organic farmers.
How we make difference?
We see our organic farmers as important stakeholders just like our partners in our mission. we create awareness about organic farming among farmers, giving them a platform to share their experiences, problems etc, supporting them with their training needs and also helping them financially & technically to get organic certification. We are changing the landscape by organizing them into Self Help Groups (SHGs), help them in planning and adding value to their organic products so that they get better economic returns, generate local employment which keeps them motivated to bring more of their land into organic.
Organic farmers and us
We believe that Indian farmers have a rich farming heritage which includes traditional knowledge, ecological & sustainable methods of crop productions, besides having all natural resources; will and capability to feed & nourish entire population.
We just act as a motivator, catalyst, and sometime facilitators to create the necessary environment for them. By adopting proactive approach, we do handholding projects with our organic farmers rather than sticking to normal buyer-seller relationship.
We often invest in providing appropriate organic inputs including seeds & planting materials, help them get access to technology & organic certification along with our strong marketing support.
What is Organic/Organic Farming?
Organic Farming is an integrated farming system that strives for sustainability, the enhancement of soil fertility and biological diversity and prohibiting synthetic pesticides, antibiotics, synthetic fertilizers, genetically modified organisms, and growth hormones. It is a production system that sustains the health of soils, ecosystems, and people.
Why choose Organic?
Better Nutrition: Organic food is much richer in nutrients as compared to time conventionally grown food
Helps us stay healthy & Free of Poison: Organic foods do not contain any chemical. This is because organic farmers don’t use chemicals at any stage of the food-growing process unlike their commercial counterparts.
Enhanced Taste: The quality of food is also determined by its taste. Organic food often tastes better than other food.
Good for Environment: In commercial farms, the chemicals applied infiltrate into the soil and severely contaminate it and nearby water sources & local habitats. Plantlife, animals, and humans are all impacted by this phenomenon
How can sustainable agriculture help farmers?
In India, where most of the Farmers are marginal & small, Organic Farming is the most economical, ecological & sustainable method of farming. Its main benefits for farmers are:
High Premium: Organic food is normally priced 20-30% higher than conventional food. This premium is very important for a small farmer whose income might only be sufficient to feed his/her family with one meal.
Low Investment: Organic farming normally does not involve capital investment as high as that required in chemical farming. Furthermore, since organic fertilizers and pesticides can be produced locally, the yearly costs incurred by the farmer are also low.
Synergy with Life Forms: Organic farming involves synergy with various plant and animal life forms. Small farmers are able to understand this synergy easily and therefore find it easy to implement the organic farming techniques.
Traditional Knowledge: Small farmers have an abundance of traditional knowledge with them and within their community. Most of this traditional knowledge cannot be used for chemical farming.
Mission, Vision & Values
To engage and promote nature’s ways of prosperity, through the art of organic farming and by encouraging customers to embrace healthier eating habits with the use of certified organic products. We strive to make a change in the mentality of farmers by helping them see and achieve the financial value of cultivating organic crops.
To revolutionize food production by focusing on organic farming through constant efforts dedicated to empower crop cultivators and enthusiastically drive them towards nature-friendly methods, in order to bring about a change in the minds and lives of both cultivators and consumers.
We believe in creating abundance for everyone, from primary producer i.e. organic farmer to end user i.e organic consumer. We follow ethic basis system whose main pillars are:
Earth Care: The Earth is a living, breathing entity. Without continuous care and nurturing there will be consequences too big to ignore. Earth Care can be taken to mean caring for the living soil. The state of the soil is often the best measure of the health and well-being of society. Our forests and rivers are the lungs and veins of our planet, which help the Earth live and breathe, supporting many diverse life forms.
People Care: If people’s needs are met in compassionate and simple ways, the environment surrounding them will prosper. People Care begins with ourselves and expands to include our families, neighbors and wider communities. The challenge is to grow through self-reliance and personal responsibility. Self-reliance becomes more feasible when we focus on non-material well-being, taking care of ourselves and others without producing or consuming unnecessary material resources.
Fair Share: If we are endowed with plenty, we can and should share with others. The growth in human consumption and the accelerating extinction of species make clear the impossibility of continuous growth. Sometimes we need to make hard decisions and consider what enough is.
